Longspan Shelving

Longspan Shelving

Longspan shelving bridges the gap between light duty hand loaded shelving and heavy duty pallet racking, making it one of the most useful and versatile storage systems available. With wide, clear shelves and generous load capacities, longspan is perfect for bulky, heavy or oversized items that are too large for ordinary shelving but do not warrant the cost and space of full pallet racking. If you store boxed goods, spare parts, tooling, archive files or general warehouse stock, longspan is very often the ideal answer.

Wide, strong, hand loaded shelving that bridges the gap between light shelving and pallet racking.

Wide shelves, strong loads

The system is built from sturdy uprights and long horizontal beams that support the shelf surface, typically chipboard, steel or mesh panels. Because the beams span a greater distance than conventional shelving, each level provides a long, uninterrupted shelf that is quick and easy to load and pick by hand. Shelf levels are fully adjustable on a close pitch, so you can reconfigure the bays at any time to suit changes in your stock profile.

Longspan is available in a range of beam lengths, shelf depths and load ratings, allowing each bay to be tailored to the weight and size of the goods it will carry. Bays can be joined into long continuous runs, and accessories such as dividers, end panels, back stops and label holders help keep stock organised, secure and easy to identify.

Maximise your height

Where buildings have good clear height, longspan shelving can be built tall and combined with mobile steps or order picking equipment to make full use of the available cube. It can also form the racking element of a multi-tier or mezzanine installation, with walkways and staircases creating additional floors of storage above. This flexibility makes longspan a firm favourite for stores, parts departments, online retail operations and busy general warehouses.

We will survey your site, discuss the goods you need to store and the way you pick them, and design a longspan scheme that gives you the right balance of capacity, accessibility and value. Every system is supplied and installed to SEMA standards by SEMA trained, CSCS carded staff, and as members of CHAS and Constructionline we deliver each project safely and professionally.

Versatile across every sector

Few storage systems are as widely useful as longspan, which is why it turns up in almost every kind of business, from automotive parts departments and builders merchants to online retailers, manufacturers and document archives. Its combination of wide, strong shelves and easy hand access makes it suitable for an enormous range of products, and its modular nature means a scheme can start small and grow steadily over time. We can mix shelf depths and load ratings within a single run and incorporate the bays into a wider layout that also includes pallet racking and small parts storage.

From our base serving Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire we work throughout the United Kingdom, treating every order with the same care whether it is a single bay or a complete warehouse.
